Dutch fans were excited to see Jeffrey Herlings make a return to racing this weekend at the opening round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross. However, it has now been confirmed the race comes too early and he won’t race the first round of the series.

The organisers do say he’ll make his return at the MXGP of Sardinia next weekend but we’ll have a wait to find out for sure – fingers crossed he does!

The organised posted the following statement:

Dear fans, we have some very bad news. We had been eagerly looking forward to the long-awaited comeback of Jeffrey Herlings, which was set to take place on Sunday, March 30th, in Harfsen.

Unfortunately, this comes just a bit too soon for Herlings, and he will make his return behind the starting gate for the first time next Sunday during the Grand Prix of Sardinia.

We want to remain honest and transparent with our fans, and of course, we are just as disappointed as you are. We hope to see all of you tomorrow in Harfsen, as the event will feature a very strong field of riders in all four classes, with national and international top riders.

The weather is looking great, there will be plenty to experience off the track, and exciting races are expected, so we’re going to make it an unforgettable motocross day.
